Hypersphere Leads Seed Round for Talisman Multi-Chain Wallet

We are excited to announce Hypersphere’s participation in Talisman’s $2.35M seed round. We first met the Talisman team (at the time called FlexDapps) at Web3 Summit 2019 where they hacked together a wallet and payment application. The Melbourne-based team led by Alexander Ramsey went on to develop node provisioning software for the Substrate ecosystem (no doubt inspired by Gavin Wood’s Substrate presentation). In early 2020, we approached Ramsey and the FlexDapps team to fill what we view as a much-needed role in the DotSama ecosystem: a multi-chain wallet focused on parachains.

For us, wallets are a critical primitive in abstracting the complexities of blockchain-based interactions. User interfaces are especially important in a new and highly technical environment like Polkadot and Kusama. Talisman is building a wallet browser extension and asset dashboard tailored for new users participating in parachain crowdloans—like the recent Moonriver, Karura and Shiden auctions—purchasing RMRK NFTs, and interacting with applications built on parachains.

We believe there is a need for a simpler wallet experience in the DotSama ecosystem, an app that would act as the gateway for new users coming from more monolithic smart contract platforms. We see Talisman as an ideal complement to the existing wallet ecosystem, which has been largely developer-focused. With parachains now live, end-users will become the primary focus of Polkadot and Kusama-based applications.

As the team has communicated in our internal discussions, we foresee Talisman achieving the following:

  1. Acting as the primary interface to the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem

  2. Accelerating the adoption of DotSama applications through developer APIs focused on parachains

  3. Develop the best multi-chain UX standards and design language
